FAQs
Membership
How do I become a member?
Applicants must be over 18 and complete a Member Application Form. Completed membership forms are presented at the next available Board meeting for approval. Once approved, the new member will receive a letter confirming their membership status. Membership is open to both individuals and trading organisations (companies/partnerships/etc)
How much does membership cost?
A minimum purchase of 10 shares is required. Each share is valued at $1
What are the benefits of being a member?
The main benefit is that you become an instant owner of an established local business. Membership also means you have a vote and say in the progress of the Co-operative. Our members also receive financial rewards including rebates and dividends based on select criteria.
Do I need to be a farmer to join?
No. Membership is open to all successful applicants.
How do rebates and dividends work?
Rebates are paid based on the amount of trading you do with the Co-operative. The dividend is based on the amount of shares held at the start of each financial year.
Does the share value fluctuate?
No. The share value does not fluctuate.
Is there a minimum and maximum level of shareholding?
Shares can only be traded back through the Co-operative and cannot be exchanged or traded in any other way. The minimum level of share that can be purchased is $10 (10 x $1 shares) and a maximum shareholding, also referred to as a share cap, is $100,000 (100,000 x $1). Any rebates or dividends earned by a shareholder that has reached the shareholding cap will be paid to them on an annual basis.
Are there minimum requirements to maintain membership?
All co-operatives must have an active membership provision within their rules. The Yenda Producers Co-operative active membership provision is for all members to purchase goods and services to a minimum value of $100 per financial year. Any member who does not meet this requirement will receive a letter advising them of this. The letter will provide them a list of options to either maintain or cease membership.
